As of now, according to Assembly Bill 3894, New Jersey no longer requires fire extinguishers to be inspected for certificate of occupancy or other fire safety inspections. However, municipalities can still require fire extinguishers. So, Realtors better check with Each of the 564 municipalities to see what the exact rule is each one.
